Starkey Academy

These pictures are of the 1924 team from Palmer Institute (Starkey Seminary). The picture comes from the 86th Annual Catalogue. Stuy Schuyler was 15 years old at that time and had attended the school for a number of years prior. The school, founded in 1839, is now known as Lakemont Academy. It is located on Seneca Lake. The annual tuition in 1924 was $375.

Thirties and Forties

From the top: Toddy and Dancing Bear at the 1939 World's Fair in New York City. It was estimated that 33 million Americans attended.

The second picture was taken in a mystery location. There is another one with the same scene but with Dancing Bear and another man who has not yet been identified.

The third picture shows Stuyvesant Schuyler and me taken at either Speculator or Caroga Lake. The Red Cross sign in the background did not offer a peek into the future but was a sign commonly used in those days to warn swimmers of sudden dropoffs at the beach.

The bottom picture shows the new family probably at 66 McClellan Avenue.

Kathryn and Stuy

From the top you see an early picture of Stuyvesant Schuyler, a picture of Kathryn Mau Schuyler upon graduation from nursing school, their wedding picture (slightly damaged) and a copy of their wedding announcement from the Amsterdam Evening Recorder. Weren't they a good looking couple? It is easy to forget that people you can remember as always seemmg old were once young?
