First Baptist Church of Amsterdam, New York

This is the 1st Baptist Church on Division Street in Amsterdam. It was an impressive edifice with many stained glass windows. It was across the street from the Union Supermarket parking lot and next to the Waterman Funeral Home. The Reverand Durwood Smith was the pastor for many years followed by Larry Littlefield. It was the scene of many events including the marriages of Toddy and Dancing Bear and Ann and Herb. It no longer exists. It was also home base of the first President of the Amsterdam Area Youth Council of Churches (guess who?) a representing all religious youth groups in the city.
